I started babysitting over the weekends. It allowed me to stay in my own home doing what I would normally do on the weekends, except with an extra kid in tow....You can post on craigslist for side jobs- or just tell friends, coworkers, family about your plans to get networking started. Many parents want a night out, especially on weekends. Some pay extra for overnight, that way you don't have to stay up until 3am and they just come the next morning after getting to sleep in a bit. The other positive is that you can pick and choose what weekends you want to work, and take a weekend off when you want, unlike a part time retail gig- Best of luck!

You could try doing what I do. I started selling with online stores about a year ago and with a bit of work I make enough now to live off with it. I work around 5 hours a day though (but I take weekends off) With a couple stores selling jewelry and clothes I make about 4k/month, which is enough to live off here in Canada. I do eBay. It is a couple hundred extra a month (depending on what I sell.) first I went through the stuff I had that was in good condition but not needed any more. When that was all gone I started going to garage sells and offering some money on large lots of items instead of buying them individually. Many people are willing to do this especially when it gets later in the day and hot. They are just ready to go in and be done. I usually buy the lot for next to nothing and sell it for a good profit. Children's clothes do pretty well this time of the year: back-to-school.
