i work for the company for the last 2 years, it's a small company, and the owner its my boss, he said things are slow right now,the problem is that i want to know if i have the right to ask him for lay-off, so that way i will have time to get another full-time job cause i can't make it with a part-time. does he got the right to give me less than 40 hours a week for 3 o 4 straight months even when im full-tyime ?

  1. He has the right to give you less hours, or zero hours.  If you are working fewer hours, doesn't that give you the time you need to look for a different job?

  2. 32 hours usually counts as full time, so you are technically being given full time hours.  You could use vacation time or ask for unpaid time off to look for another job.  Good luck!

  3. $3000 per month?  I don't believe it!!!

Yes, your boss can give you whatever work he wants to.

Of course, you can ask him to lay you off so you can collect unemployment.

However, with 10-15 hours  per week that you aren't working, you have plenty of time to look for another job.
