His cage has a heat lamp, two hide boxes, water dish, plant to hide, I mist him with water and keep the humidity at about 70-80%! I have given him crickets, phoenix worms and baby food! The local pet shop told me to give him moths from outside? Where I live has no vet that specializes in geckos! I have no clue what to do! He is not going to the bathroom either??? Please help!

  1. first off  what type of gecko, secondly, how long have you had him? you can email me if you want for more help:)

  2. Well, if it's a Tokay, the humidity might be okay, but if it's a Leo gecko, the humidity would be too high.  From the baby food comment, I'm wondering if he's a Crested gecko?

It's easier for us to help you when we know what kind of animal you have.  Please go back to your "additional" section and tell us what kind of gecko it is.

As for not using the bathroom, if you are keeping a species of gecko which can't live on loose substrate or sand on the wrong substrate then he could be impacted (intestines blocked).  Again, it's difficult to answer without the correct information to base a guess on.

It is never a good idea to offer wild insects to your domestic lizards.  They can carry disease, pesticides, and parasites.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.  If the animal is impacted, it will need immediate help or vet attention (your vet can google how to treat the animal, if they don't already know how to deal with impaction.  Vets have access to medical sites which we do not).

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  3. you shouldn't be feeding the gecko moth from outside it can be contaminatedd with parasitess and other wild disease,
