On the other side of the coin is geometric type design. All the writing is in Farsi so I am at a loss as to knowing what it might be worth. I've had it for about 10 years. Help!

  1. The first gold coin of the Islamic republic of Iran minted in 1979, called "Bahaar-e Azaadi".

It should be noted that since the Islamic revolution, only three commemorative gold coins are officially minted in Iran. First one was minted in 1999, commemorating the centennials birthday of Ayatollah Khomeini; Second one was minted in 2000 to commemorate the year of Imam Ali (The first Shiite Muslim leader)and the last was minted in 2007 on the occasion of the year of the Great Prophet of Islam, Mohammad.

The coins of Iran obverse resembles to the old coin series in the country and the building on the side of it shows the holy shrine of Hazrat Masooma in the city of Qom.
