I think a red carpet would look so awesome! It would totally pop!!

If you like red, go for it!  Black would work too Or a different shade of gray.

Gray is a hot trend right now in home fashion and the color combos are quite striking.  Some great combos:

Bold Purples - Choose vibrant purples in deep tones

Red - This is a classic color combo and goes great with black furniture and accessories.  

Yellow - Canary yellows or mustard yellows are a fabulous accent to gray color ways.  For a more traditional or subtler look, look for gold tones instead of the vibrant yellows.

red would be ok but you may tire of it easily...your starting with neutrals so your pretty much anything will match take a look at homedecorators.com they have so many styles and colors i'm sure you'll find something to suit your taste.
