  1. It's unlikely that you'll find people to contribute but you might find schools that give scholarships. Call the schools that interest your child and see what's available. The better your child's grades and scores, the better chance you have. The elite schools in general have the most money to give. They use scholarship money to gain diversity, athletic talent, music and art talent and strong academic talent. The more unusual your child and his/her skills, the more chance you'll have of finding money.

  2. Unfortunately there are lots of great kids out there who need help to attend private schools and not enough extra money around. But what you can do is to either choose a private school that is on the inexpensive side, but still a good school (often Catholic and Christian), or look into a school that has a scholarship program.

In most cases they will send the financial information to a clearing house that handles applications from all over the country and they will let the school know if your kid qualifies. Most schools with scholarship programs do blind admittance -- they admit the student without considering if they need financial aid. If they are admitted, and qualify for financial aid, then they'll get it.

Some schools give scholarship based on merit, like entrance exams (Catholic test or ISEE), overall character of the student, athletic ability, special skills that benefit the school's reputation, etc. Many schools have their financial aid policies on their website.

    Good luck!
