  2. Generally: in 2008 forward, passports are required at all US borders.

    DHS (Department of Homeland Security) claims it will be requiring passports from US citizens crossing Canadian and Mexican borders by land in summer, 2008... (note: "US Citizens.)

    You need to get one -

    Note: since you are not a U.S. Citizen - - - a green-card does not categorize you as such (because when you do become a U.S. Citizen you surrender your green-card... its not longer needed,) your passport would be from your country of origin - - - assume Mexico?  Anyway, be aware of such before you show up at an US Office and are turned away and sent to the Mexican consulate.
