I have a gross smell in my basement! its has been there for about 2 mon. i cant get rid if it -?

the smell is kinda like a burning onion...i know it sounds wierd...at first we thought our puppy kept peeing down there when we were letting her play...but weve cleaned the carpet multiple times and replaced the carpet padding under the carpet itself. we cant afford new carpet and i dont know how to get rid of the smell....let alone even find it!

I can't stop laughing. It may not be a human body but a mouse. Rent a carpet cleaner and have friends over to help you identify the smell. I burn incense in my basement to cover the musty smell. I also have a dehumidifier. Good luck.

If there is a floor drain under the carpet, you need to pour water into it at least once a month. If the water in the trap evaporates, this allows sewer gas to enter the home.
