I have a guitar?

so i have a guitar. and i can read music cause im in band. what is an easy way to learn how to play the guitar though? i only know the open strings right now. help please and thank you!!

use tabs. its pretty easy to learn a song that way. here's a great site, but beware some of the tabs are wrong! and if you dont get tablature right away (dont worry I didn't) just google "How to read tabs or tablature"

Do you play a wind instrument?  It's quite different from a string instrument.  

Guitar is very intuitive when it comes to reading music.  

So let's say you're on the open B string (the following notation is in treble clef):

--------------------------------------...

--------------------------------------...

------------------------------0-------...

--------------------------------------...

--------------------------------------...

Now you want to play C:

--------------------------------------...

--------------------------------------...

                                      0

--------------------------------------...

--------------------------------------...

--------------------------------------...

To play the above note, just put you're finger on the first fret on the B string.  Each fret on a guitar is a half step-up for the last fret.

E - frets: F F#/Gb G G#/Ab A... and so on

B - frets: C C#/Db D D#/Eb E (which is same note as next string)... and so on

G - frets: G#/Ab A A#/Bb B (which is same note as next string).. and so on

D - frets: D#/Eb E F F#/Gb G (which is same note as next string)... and so on

A - frets: A#/Bb C C#/Db D (which is same note as next string) ... and so on

E - frets: F F#/Gb G G#/Ab A (which is same note as the next string) ... and so on
