I have a gum pain and I don't know how to treat it?

It's sort of a swelling but without any liquid in it. It doesn't hurt when I chew or drink water, but because it's on the inside part of my gums, on the lower part, I touch it a lot with my tongue and then it hurts. It doesn't hurt as much as it hurts when i touch it. I told my mum to buy me some Glycerin. I know Glycerin has a anti-inflamatory property and i think it might work it out. I don't want to go to a dentist so please, no such advice. Some days ago i poked it with my nail and it bled. Can somebody tell me what is it and how to treat it ?

  1. Hi

Take a general pain killer (after reading the instructions) then rinse your mouth with cooled boiled salt solution or buy some oil of cloves. However it's advisable to visit the dentist, if as you say it turns out to be an abscess go to casualty,as the infection is in the lower gum area of the mouth the swelling can restrict your breathing and swallowing. Good Luck.

  2. just keep on going with the saltwater

you most probably have an infection or gum disease/gingivitis

  3. could be a cold sore or ulcer.  drink lots of water and use anbesol for the pain it'll numb ya right up. shouldn't take more than a couple of days to clear up tho.  if it lasts a week or longer then u need to see a dentist as terrifying as that can be cuz it might be a periodontal condition.

  4. Can either be a tooth absyss or a gum boil. an absyss should only be treated by antibiotics which you can get from your doctor if you dont want to see a dentist or try swilling your mouth with cordisone.

  5. Where Is The Pain?

Cause if its at the back of ur mouth

It might be a tooth coming through because im goin through

    the same thing

  6. It might be an abscess and that wont go away without treatment. In the meantime you could try oil of clove - soak a piece of cotton wool and put it on the infected area. It should numb it.

Are you not going to the dentist because you have a phobia? I have a really bad phobia of dentists but I just get a Valium injection in my arm when I need work done. It's like being asleep and you won't feel anything. I always pass out.

  7. try bathing it with salty water (swirl salty water around your mouth and spit it out) 3 times a day for a while. it works pretty well for any infections/ mouth ulsers ect.

  8. As you don't want to see a dentist or get any answers along that line, I don't think the right answer will be given, however the next best thing you can do is to use a gum healing mouthwash twice per day. Once in the morning and once before you go to bed. Don't swill your mouth out with water afterwards as this will not help your gum to heal. You need to brush first and then mouthwash afterwards, but wait 5 mins after you brush or the mouthwash won't work properly. Then hold the mouthwash in your mouth for 30 seconds or more (it will sting at first). Do this twice per day as I have suggested and in most cases the touble will go away and heal.

  9. I believe its perodontitis( gum disease) gums usually swell are red and inflamed.....hurts to touch and bleed really easy by brushing or touching....go see your hygienist....they do cleanings on the teeth....he/she may have you get a perio root and scale or nsp(non surgical procedure) and they will do a deep cleaning on you to help clear this gum disease....but you have to do good on homecare(brushing, flossing daily) otherwise you can go to a periodontist which if you can avoid this and just get a regular nsp do it bc the periodontist will put you to sleep and cut open your gums do clear this.....Much more PAINFUL
