I have a habanero plant that flowers and the petals fall off but then the stem turns black and dies ?

does anyone know why. I watch the watering and try not to overwater. I also have it in a nice area were it gets sun. But as soon as it start budding it turns black and falls off. Does anyone have any ideas?

Do you use any type of tobacco?  Habaneros can't tolerate tobacco - even the residue from your fingers can be bad for the plant.
