I have a hamster but just bought another, now the original hamster wont stop biting its cage,is this normal?

I have a feeling it is because it can sense the new hamster and wants to get to it

no it just want more attention from u and yes he does smell another hamster but the only way he would get to it is if you have them in the same cages.

i have a male and fem side by side, the fem does this all day.she actually lifts her feet off the floor with her teeth on the bars chewing, very loud and annoying. the male does not do anything. it is just there nature. he is fine.

ok frist of all did it come from the same cage in the store is it the same type or hamster and is it a boy or a girl.if it is a girl and boy in the same cage the guy might be showing power or they might hate each other and get them out now! or one might die! i hate this but i had hamsters before and call the pet store!

if the other was a female and/or male they might want to mate.but the same s*x  then i don't know

No. My hamster bites her cage too. Ur ham is trying to escape... it wants more attention.

Does not sound very normal, but I'm  comparing the behavior to dogs.

I'd wait awhile and see how they get along.
