I have a hardware question about a bunk bed/futon...?

There is a piece of hardware that looks like two handle but they are just iron bars thave have the bottom ends where you would stick it in a hole curving in...does anyone no what that is?

sounds like a brace,to s***w into the bottom of frame ,to support weight down to floor
