I have a hardy hibiscus and part of it is dying out of 7 stems 2 are dying help?

I have a hardy hibiscus and part of it is dying out of 7 stems 2 are dying help?

Maybe a Black Twig Borer laid eggs in those stems...

Usually when a stem of a plant is infested with Twig Borers it'll completely die back, as your hibiscus is.  I think the only solution is to cut back the affected branches... maybe u could break them open and look inside for the grubs to find out for sure?  Just a guess, could be something else entirely.
