I have a hermit crab that just finished molting?

Question

One of my hermit crabs just finished molting yesterday while i was at school and when i came home it was in its new shell, its color isn't so different that i noticed, and i don't know what happened with it's old exoskeleton! I can't find it!

I threw the old shell away because it was painted... and I KNOW it was molting because it was underground for a little over 4 weeks!!!

Hermit crabs eat their old skin to gain calcium.

well first of all if u have other hermit crabs give it a bath so the otehr crabs dont think the one that just molted is lunch. When they molt it gives off a yummy smell to them.

For over 4 weeks which is about a month, I thin you should clean the entire cage. Like take out all the sand or gravel and dump it away and just do a through cleaning. Thats the best way and since its over 4 weeks thats good. You should clean the tank about every once or month. Not too much or too much stress for the hermit crab

heyy ;; i have a hermit crab too that finished molting about a month ago or a little less. After a hermit crab Molt's, they eat their exoskeleton. They eat it because it gives them like a good source of Calcium which helps them grow a new exoskeleton. =]
