  1. You can't say anything at all.  Your guests will be bringing a gift, IF THEY WANT TO.  You can't ask for ANY gifts specifically, especially cash or gift cards.  If they ask you what you want, then you can tell them.  ...  But, asking for a gift card or money on the invitation sounds like you're charging admission to your party.  It would be rude to put any mention of any type of gift on the invitation at all.....

  2. well you could probably say....registered at target and walmart, store gift cards preferred....

or something like that. its your party, dont be afraid to tell people what you want. Trust me it wont be a big deal cause buying a gift card is way easier than picking out a gift. People will understand that you want to choose stuff yourself.

  3. Well NO I didn't know that guests ALWAYS bring presents.

Nothing should ever be assumed in life.

Registering for a housewarming party???  You better get your act together before hosting a party of any kind.  Next you'll be saying it's a potluck and bring your favorite dish.

If your guests bring you anything, you should be appreciative no matter what it is, in today's economy people can just about afford to put food on their own dinner tables.

Sometimes "presence" of friends is better than "presents" from friends

Hope everything goes well and in this case, beggars shouldn't be choosy.

  4. I would tell one good friend and have them spread the word. I wouldn't include it on the invitations.

  5. You can't. People are not expected to bring gifts....so asking for a certain gift would be in VERY bad taste.

I have never heard of anyone registering for a house warming party. It usually is to welcome your friends into your new home.

  6. it is not compulsory to bring something.it is not a wedding.it is the nice polite thing to do.just wait and see what friends kindly give you.if you are doing this only 4 the gifts...bad idea.sory

  7. Have a good friend spread the word around or on the invitation you could put something along the lines of "Gifts are not necessary, but if you would like gift cards are preferred." I think friends would much rather you buy something you want than have you return something they bought you.

  8. Write on the invite Gift Card Apreciated

  9. There is no way, it will be rude, period!  It would be rude to mention gifts at all on an invitation!  Unless you are telling people NOT to bring gifts at all!

  10. No..you can't do that.  Asking for gifts at all is rude.  Most people will bring a little trinket, a bottle of wine or a plant to a housewarming party.
