  1. Many people are intimidated by job interviews.

This is your opportunity to really brag about yourself and what you can do for them. When I say brag, I do not mean egotistical, I mean fact statements of your abilities, how good you are at them and what you can do for the company.

If you find out what types of jobs you may be interviewing for, you can brag about your skills in that area.

Stay away from standard answers. For instance, many people will say that  they are reliable. When you can give an example of HOW you are reliable, you will make a better impression.  All companies want to hear that you will be on time and do the job assigned. If this is your first job out of school, and you never missed a day of school or were never late and met all your deadlines, you can use that example.

Think about what are your unique abilities. then when in the interview really LISTEN to the questions that you are asked.

Some interviewers don't know how to interview and may ask you quesitons that have no real relationship to the job.  If they ask you if you know specific computer programs, you can ask them if these programs are used on the job. If they say "yes", you can tell them some examples of how well you use these programs.

Dress more professional than you see the other workers at the job. You most likely will be judged if you are showing too much skin, sloppy clothes, messy hair, too much cologne or makeup, or if your appearance is too casual. The first impression is critical. You can always relax to fit into the job appearance after getting the job, however, at the interview, your apperance shows respect for the company you are applying to and yourself.

Even if you take a resume, be prepared to fill out their forms completely. If you put"see resume" you are presenting yourself as not willing to follow rules.

Be confident that you are the best person for the job they have aailable. Even if you really need the job, most compaies don't like hiring someone who looks desperate.

Most of all, take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the experience.

  2. Research the company and be informed.  Relay your positive abilities and goals & what you can provide the company to assist and achieve it's further success. Be punctual and dress sharp.
