I have a jbl 1200.1 two channel amp im looking to wire it up to a 15 in sub but i dont know wat one. The jbl amp has an RMS rating of 600w at 4 ohms and 1200 at 2 ohms so i think i should be able to run a 15 off it tell me how u would wire it up so i could bridge the 2 channels together.

  1. The amp should have it marked, but bridging the channels would be to run the negative input of the sub to one channel's negative output, and to run the positive input of the sub to the other channel's positive output. Look for a subwoofer with similar RMS ratings, ie 600w at 4 ohms...

I have added an example of a good subwoofer for you amp below, but I would bet that you can find it for cheaper than what Crutchfield offers!

BTW, have you considered running two 12's instead of 1 15"? While the 15" will have a very "boom-ey" effect, 2 12" subs would be almost as deep, and have much crisper bass. And, you wouldn't have to worry about bridging your amp!

  2. I've always run the positive from one channel and the negative from the other. I don't know if it's the right way to do it, but it's always worked with high quality (loud) output.
