I have a jet boat with a 455 olds in it,?

I recently took my intake off to replace the gaskets, and discovered underneath the intake it was burned and had an enormous crack underneah.My intake is an Edelbrock 455 Torker with a Holley 650. How did this happen?

  1. You did not mention any heating problems....top end damage would indicate poor circulation of the cooling system which is different than in an automobile by using the lake water...check your water pump and the size of your o*****e control washer (takes place of the thermostat) if the hole in the washer is too small you may consider increasing it in size, and replace your manifold and gaskets....


  2. Salt water or fresh water cooled??? Probably overheating because of a occluded coolant passage..common on salt water systems---or a poorly maintained fresh water system. The crack appeared first--that made it all worse as time went on. Coolant HAS to get where it needs to go.
