  1. You need to connect to your PC with a firewire cable!! Your PC needs a firewire port!! You can reuse the tapes if you want. See the JVC support site for a manual, software , and FAQ's on your camcorder. Follow the link below>>>>>

  2. you can record over a tape anytime unless you move the red tab on the cassette to prevent recording. i have taken pictures from around the world, and i would be very unhappy if any got recorded over, so i always set the tab when done. tape is very inexpensive, get a case off the internet so you always have a new one ready to use.

  3. I have a JVC mini DV camcorder too, and I love it!

However, you can't import video to your pc, only still images from the camcorder can be imported.

The quality of the video, when connected to a tv or other compatible video source, is excellent!

The tapes are reusable. You are able to tape over old recordings.

  4. If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder….

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your PC probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.
