  1. Ask at the desk for the password

  2. Your laptop should automatically detect their wireless Internet. Most hotels have a password on it though so you may need to call down to the front desk to find out what it is.

  3. Does your laptop have wireless connection?  If so does the motel have free wi-fi?  If not then you can't connect even if you got a laptop.  Ask the motel if they have free internet connection and if they do ask for the sn and password.

  4. It depends on how they offer their internet service.  Assuming that it is free, or that you have already paid you will need to go one of two routes:

    1. wireless

If they have a wireless network, and your laptop has wireless capabilities, then you should be able to get online.  Make sure your wireless card is on, there may be a physical switch somewhere on your laptop and you may also need to turn the card on through the control panel and network settings.

    2. ethernet port

If they have ethernet ports (which look like a phone hook-up but are slightly wider), all you need is the ethernet cable.  You will probably already have one of these but if not, you can find them at any best buy or radioshack.  It might say ethernet or Cat-5 or some combination of the two.

If neither of these methods work, or they aren't available, you'll probably need to speak to someone in the lobby about getting access to their network, if they have one.

  5. usually the will have a plug in in the room, or you can use your wireless connection. They will most likely give you a code to put in your computer. Ask the front desk. They will walk you through.

  6. Most modern hotels (and laptops) work on a wireless system. Provided you have a wireless card on your laptop, (which may be an add on, or it could be internal) and the hotel has modern technology (give them a call to find out the system they use), Then you would connect to their router in the same way that you would at home or work, eg, by (usually) clicking on the wireless networking icon that windows should have in it's system tray, and then selecting the hotel's router from the list of available networks.. (a good hotel should have someone there who can help you hook up if you have a problem, again, give them a call to find out if they can assist)

However, some older hotels (and computers) use a LAN cable or even a dial up modem, which is attached via a cable to either your dial up modem (I would be surprised if you have one on a laptop these days) or your Lan card.. Then it gets a little trickier, as you have to set up a new internet connection through "network connections" in the start menu (that is if you are using XP) The hotel is likely to be able to assist you here also...

So in short, give the hotel a call, tell them how you usually connect and they should be able to (excuse the pun) hook you up :)

    Happy surfing ;)

  7. If they have wi-fi, your computer should say that it has found a new network and you should be able to get in from there.

  8. idk what kind of laptop you have and if it works the same, but mines a compaq with windows and i just got mine too. mine works like this.

down at the bottom of the screen theres a little icon with two computers and an x if you are not connected to the internet.

            click on it

it will say connect to a network. click on it

              click on an unsecured network.

it will probably ask if you want to connect to a different network or connect anyway.

             connect anyway

then it should tell you you succesfully connected to the network =]

to disconnect go back to the thing at the bottom.

it says connect or dissconnect. click it

click on the network you are connected to

              click disconnect

    hope this works =]
