I have a laptop with sata 1.5gb/s hard drive connection but can I still put in a sata 3.0gb/s hard drive.?

  1. Yes, it'll work just fine and probably won't have much performance difference (I doubt any laptop hard drive could even saturate SATA 1.5 for very long).


  2. Yes it should be backwards compatible.. Basically it will scale the HDD down to 1.5GB/S..

  3. Yes,  Sata1 and Sata2 are backwards compatible.  The connectors are interchangeable.

  4. The harddrive connectors for SATA are the same, therefore you can use the same connector.
