Hi, The collecter plates I wanted to sell first are all still in the box they were originally posted out from Bradford Exchange in. They have only ben opened slightly by me in order to take photos of the plates and view the Certificate of Authenticity. The collection is of 8 plates (all of which I have) and are of the "A Child's Best Friend" plate collection which presents the classic art of Bessie Pease Gutmann on porcelain. The plates are georgeous however I do not have the space to appreciate them and need the money. How much should I charge for the plates? How much are they worth? Should I list them all separatley on ebay, or should I list the whole set and sell as a collection? If so how much should I list all 8 for? What is a good price to bgin bidding at? Can I offer sellers the choice to buy separate or list them separate and offer buyers a chance to purchase th whole collection cheaper? I also don't know what to charge for postage? They are fairly light yet are fragile? Should

  1. This is my personal advice, since I have learned a lot of things on ebay.

It sounds like you've never sold anything on ebay.  You should take a week to get familiar with the site.

I would sell a few smaller items to get used to process of auctioning off your goods.

Before selling, use ebay to research the prices of what similar items are selling for.  Make sure the plates your are selling are in demand.  If no body wants to buy your plates, you may end up selling them for a price below what you expect.

    Research, research, research.

Lastly, You need a decent feedback score so buyers have confidence when ordering from you.

  2. To be honest with you, collector plates are a poor resale item. Anything sold as collectible often fares poorly on the secondary market.

I checked the closed auctions on ebay ,and these often don't sell at all, and when they do, it is usually for $3.00-10.00 per plate.

If you plan to sell them on ebay, it most likely will not be economically feasible to list individually..the listing fees will kill you.

I'd lot 'em and sell them that way. You might even have better luck with a local venue, as opposed to ebay.
