Question:

I have a large plank (large in width about 3.6 inc)need to split (to 1.8inch)help me?

for example if you take a plank which is flat and turn it over on its side can you cut it in half

  1. you are talking about re-sawing the thickness? you would need to find someone who has a large band saw or a small lumber mill to cut the thickness in half...i think you mean large in thickness...planks are generally 8 to 12 in. in width...


  2. never rip a plank on its side you wanna lay it flat measure 1.8 inches at one end and mark it measure again in the middle 1.8 inches and mark, and the same at the other end when you are dunn marking up the plank snap a chalk line on the marks that you measured from one end to the other, then take the plank and make sure the part you wanna cut is facing the outside then take your power saw and try to do it in one motion, to get a clean ripp, follow the chalk line all the way thru and you should be all right, remember safety first, if it does not feel right readjust and try it again, good luck i hope it works out for you..
