that is an extremely long time

but since none of us know the specifics of the case, why not ask the lawyer to give you some answers NOW

I am sure he can't tell you the date of settlement but he can give you an idea regarding what he thinks the cause of the delay is.

I hope you get this 7 years is a very long time to wait for anything!

As long as you are still receiving treatment then it won't be settled.  The insurance company is waiting for you to achieve the best recovery possible.  So as long as you continue to have surgeries or treatment then the case will remain open.  Once your physician and you decide you are the best you are ever going to be then you can talk settlement.  An insurance company won't leave future medical open on a work comp claim
