I have a legacy dvd player for my truck and it has a pink wire on the back that says 12v brake what is it?

  1. It's meant to be connected to the wire from your vehicle's parking brake switch.  It's to prevent a picture from showing on the video screen unless the brake is set.  In most states it's illegal to have a movie playing in the driver's field of view while the vehicle is in motion.


  2. same as above answer, plus your parking brake wire must rest at 12volts, ground when set. some parking brakes are ground when set, open when not set. if your car has an open at rest  parking brake wire, you have to wire in a relay to simulate a rest at 12v wire. please don't just ground this wire, as it is extremely dangerous to drive while distracted in this manner, and we all have to share the road with ya..
