  1. Well, I should think you could do a squeeze test to tell whether or not the fruit is ripe.  Citrus trees are truly amazing.  You can harvest fruit even when the trees are producing wonderfully fragrant blossoms for the next crop.  Exactly when the fruit ripens could depend on your particular climate.  I live in metro Phoenix, and all the citrus is green right now, with the exception of the last year's crop, which is brown and dried out from the hot, hot sun.  It seems like the fruit starts to ripen around Christmas time and you can harvest as late as June.  It's really cool that you can have a constant supply of frest fruit over many months.  As soon as I buy a house, I'm gonna make sure I have citrus of all sorts!

  2. i would taste a fruit. lemons and limes each have their own taste

  3. it may be a cross between a lemon and a lime. take one of the fruit off and see if it is soft inside. if it is soft then it is ripe and you have a lime tree if it is hard it is a lemon tree. it takes 6 months for a lemon tree to ripen and some lemons have a greenish tint, but are mostly yellow

  4. if there is to much fruit on the tree it will take longer for them to ripen. you may have to thi some.  break a leaf and smell it you should be able to smell either a lemon or a lime.
