I have a little bit of debt, can i still get a bank account?

Ok I use to have a bank account but it got closed when i went over seas. I do have a little bit of debt (like 1500) but my question is if i go to a bank (like Soverign's bank) will they approve me for a bank account? I dont wanna get there and fill out all of the stuff and then they say "No " because that would be SOOOO embarrasing lol.

you shouldnt have any problems unless you went bankrupt

Debt has nothing to do with getting a bank account. If you have bounced a bunch of checks in the past, you might have a problem, but if you just have debt you will not have a problem getting a checking or savings account.

Yes debt has no effect on getting a bank account generally unless of course it's because of bad checks then you would be denied unless it's some type of second chance banking
