  1. A 30g tank is pretty expensive in itself, but be aware most wild-caught catfish can reach a foot or more, so you may have to upgrade sooner or later.

  2. If you got it in a lake its most likley a channel catfish. (which will literally get BIGGER than the tank it's in. Ive seen 4-5footers.

could be a bullhead though. Those still get too big for a 30.

  3. You can put some fake corals, or some rocks, that would be ok.

  4. let it go! do you have a hunting, gaming, and fishing license? if not then what you are doing is illegal, chances are the fish is going to outgrow a 30 gal tank if you caught it in a lake! just let it go, keeping it may kill it.

  5. You caught it in a lake?

I'm not going to advise you to keep it.

Freshwater catfish are not that expensive to buy.

  6. invest in live plants. all fish love them, especially since yours is wild caught. and it will help keep the tank alittle cleaner...  get riverstone gravel and playsand. i have both in my aquarium, my fish love it, and its more natural..and since yours was wild, it would probably prefer a tank like this, although having plain gravel would work. the plants would provide coverage, so you wont need much else besides food...
