I don't know where my faith is when it comes to things right now in life; I worry about everything. Right now, I'm worried about the safety of me and my family with Hurricane Gustav coming; It's suppose to come as a Cat.3 or 4 Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon. I do have a Generalized Anxiety Disorder; Which leads to Depression very quickly. What do I do? I don't know how to " Let go and let God."

  1. i dont agree about god, but i can say without bias that if your afraid of hurricanes at all you may want to move a little farther north than luissiana

  2. I believe that God exists and all; I just doubt what he can do.

Okay now accept the fact that you believe,,

First step is faith you have already shown faith second step comes from the revelation from God.

Have you confessed your sins and accepted the atonement?

If not take this step in faith and accept the lord Jesus Christ,

Through accepting Jesus and the atonement he provides for you then you will be accepting the Holy Spirit and through the Holy Spirit revelation from God which is through the spirit.

    Edit

Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. “God demonstrates his own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”

Jesus rose from the dead and now he lives in heaven with God his Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with him in heaven if we accept him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me."

God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name." You can choose to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come in to your life as your Lord and Savior.

Saying the sinner's prayer is simply a way of declaring to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ as your Savior. There are no "magical" words that result in salvation. It is only faith in Jesus' death and resurrection that can save us. If you understand that you are a sinner and in need of salvation through Jesus Christ, here is a sinner's prayer you can pray to God:

"God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!"

Through accepting Jesus and the aotnement you will receive the  Comforter the Holy Spirit and through the sprit revelation from God.

Remember that you have began a relationship with God and are now growing in a new realtionship and all things are not instant and as in any relationship it grows with time.

Spend time with God in his word and in prayer and in meditation.

God Bless You, You are in my prayers.

  3. Don't brood about what you can't control, focus on what you can control. You can get yourself and your family ready to stick it out, or evacuate if you have to. I suffer from bouts of generalized anxiety/OCD myself, and I find it useful in some situations to just focus on preparations and details instead of obsessing about the possibilities.

Honestly, you don't have to believe in a God, but many people find it a source of comfort. If you wanted to, you might pray that God's will be done whatever that will happens to be -- basically let Him decide what's going to happen, and then do your human best to keep yourself and your family safe.

I'm sorry you are in that position -- it must be really frightening. I hope everything turns out OK. Take care.

  4. You have little to no faith in god because you are beginning to understand that god is imaginary.

ALL gods are the figment of human imagination, usually brought about by fear.

Let go of that childish nonsense.

Stand on your own and think for yourself. Trust me, you'll be happy you did.

Edit; please remember that heaven is not real, nor is h**l, or Narnia or Oz. Heaven is a carrot used to lead the gullible into the churches so they can fill the collection plate.

Similarly, h**l is a threat so that the gullible will stay in the churches and fill the collection plate.

Remember that ALL religions are big business based on fleecing the gullible of their money.

  5. You said something about the object of this is to renew your faith. I'm sorry, but things don't work that way. Once you stop double-thinking, it's kinda hard to get back into the groove.

I think you should look at both sides of the argument. No, all sides of the argument. Re-read the Bible, whatever version you use. The entire book, please, not just random tidbits someone else told you to read. Read essays written by Jews, Christians, Muslims, Wiccas, atheists, whoever. Then make a decision on what and who you want to believe.

You might continue believing. You might not. But either way, you have made an educated decision, and that's the important thing.

  6. Find yourself a good church where you attend regularly. Pray. Study Bible and surround yourself with strong Christians.

Purpose Driven Life -book by Rick Warren has helped millions of people to reach the personal relationship with Jesus christ who saves.

  7. Hi,i have a friend who had an anxiety disorder,to the point that he couldn't work anymore and had a complete breakdown. He was drawn to God one day when he heard a friend mention the apparitions of Mejugoria. He began to pray and was overwhelmed with faith and trust in God.His anxiety left him and for years now he has privately counseled others. The doctors could not understand how he got better.Drugs can only suppress, not cure it.He doesn't take them anymore. His doctors just said, whatever your doing don't stop!

Take care in that storm too!cheers and God bless:)

  8. Your actually wrong about, the "I also know that you have to believe in God; In order to go to heaven." God doesn't hate those who are not of a Christian belief. If God didn't like those who didn't believe in Him, that would make him somewhat like Hitler and prejudice to other religions. God just wants us to live a happy loving life and not be evil or get easily tempted or just being morally wrong. If you just be a good person you can go to heaven, rather you believe in him or not. However, if your like, "I hate God." That's different.

I think that you should worry about what you should do during the Hurricane and what's safe for your family, rather then worrying if God will come through. But you never know, miracles can work in extraordinary ways.

  9. Sometimes I doubt what God can do, but then I remember that He is the reason why I am here today and I pray for Him to forgive me.

  10. So you have little to no faith in God, but you have reason to trust Him.

I can tell you that trusting God means that you don't have to worry about so much. His promises are many, and also you can be assured that death is not the end, that God knows your suffering, and that anyone who wants to can come to Him for peace with Him through Jesus Christ.

All those whom God wants are led to Christ. And it's through Christ that all the promises of God are made true, and are doubtless.

  11. Hey... it is all in the Bible...!!! Think of the men who wrote the Bible!

Job 9:23 (NIV) When a scourge brings sudden death, God* (*NOT SATAN, but God!) mocks the despair of the INNOCENT.

Job 9:17 (NIV) He* (*God… NOT SATAN, but God!) would crush me with a storm and multiply my wounds FOR NO REASON.

Lamentations 3:37-38 (KJV) Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not? OUT OF THE MOUTH OF THE MOST HIGH PROCEEDETH NOT EVIL AND GOOD*? (*Preachers lie, they say that “God is GOOD”, but not firstly EVIL…(read it again! FIRST: EVIL… and then “good” as a teaser!)

Exodus 4:11 (NIV) The Lord said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? (Isn’t the Bible God so nice to tell us so we don’t have to blame the Devil all the time?)

Amos 3:6 (KJV) Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be EVIL in a city, and the lord hath not done it?

Proverbs 16:4 (NIV)  The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, EVEN THE WICKED* (*The Devil or is it any compassionate human being who doesn’t believe in God?) FOR THE DAY OF EVIL. (No Heathen religion in the Western World is as wicked as the Bible religion! I don’t even want to talk about Islam! Christians made up in their minds what Christianity ought to be in spite of what’s written in the Bible!)

Ruth 1:20-21 (NIV) “Don't call me Naomi,” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty* (*NOT SATAN, but God!) has brought misfortune upon me.”

Proverbs 1:26-28 (NIV) I* (*God NOT SATAN, but God!)  in turn will laugh at your disaster; I WILL MOCK WHEN CALAMITY OVERTAKES YOU* (*God is taking advantage of any calamity like a forthcoming California Earthquake to convey a “message” that some Christians don’t get!) - when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me.

Jeremiah 11: 14 "Do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them, BECAUSE I* (*God) WILL NOT LISTEN WHEN THEY CALL TO ME IN THE TIME OF THEIR DISTRESS*. (Nothing scares primitive religious people more than the idea that their God doesn’t listen to them!  It still works today! The Christian idea that this whimsical God always listens to them is wishful hoping that the chances are just right that God will answer on the spot, otherwise he will POSITIVELY answer, but later!)

Romans 9:11-15   Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad–in order that God's purpose in election might stand: not by works but by him who calls–she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”  What then shall we say? IS GOD UNJUST? NOT AT ALL!* (*Saint Paul says so… because he is telling you!)  For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”* (*the Christian clergy guarantees you all the opposite that God is no respecter of persons!)

Malachi 1:4  (NIV) Edom* (*Esau) may say, "Though we have been crushed, we will rebuild the ruins."  But this is what the LORD Almighty says: "They may build, but I will demolish. They will be called the Wicked Land, A PEOPLE ALWAYS UNDER THE WRATH OF THE LORD* (*How would you like to be one of them? No FREE WILL FOR YOU! NO Salvation, either! God doesn’t like you for ever just for the heck of it!)

Isaiah 45:7 (KJV) I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and CREATE EVIL: I the LORD* (*NOT SATAN) do all these things.

Job 42:11 (KJV) Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over ALL THE EVIL that the LORD* (*NOT SATAN!) had brought upon him:* (*God had a plan to have ALL of Job’s children slaughtered! He gave Job some new ones later on after all that… Isn’t God so wonderful?! Life is so cheap as far as the Bible God goes!)

When was the last time that a Christian blamed God for any of his/her misfortune? I bet you they credit Satan for their misfortunes!  They are offending the Bible God!!! SHAME ON THEM CHRISTIANS…!!! “As for me and my house, “IN GOD WE TRUST” for all of our misfortunes!!! (Am I catching the Bible religion or what?) Christianity is worse than any wild pagan religion involving human sacrifice!  No wonder that the only way to pacify this whimsical sadistic God is by sacrificing his Only Begotten son in human form… after he was properly beaten to a pulp and tenderized, thoroughly marinated in Roman spit, and crucified as a “spotless Lamb of God!” How religiously primitive can you still get in today’s society…? Now Christians snack on this God’s Roman spit flavored meat and drink his Holy blood for “salvation”…   Europe is waking up of the Dark Ages far ahead of us here in America! I guess that Religions will still be in effect until our IQ and common sense improve to a decent level… Hey, are we still evolving, or what?  The Bible writers were very silly to credit their idea of a God with so much EVIL when they could have done a better job blaming the Devil all along…! They would have kept me fooled to this day, too! … Because unlike most full tithe and offering paying Christians, I do read the Bible!

  12. It is normal to have fear when a hurricane approaches.  Trusting in God does not mean you will never fear, it does mean that you look to Him in your time of fear.  Pray to Him and cry out to Him, be sure you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and have invited Him into your heart and life.

God will not turn you away because you have fear, He will not be angry, just as you would not be angry at your child just because they had a nightmare and had trouble falling to sleep.  Rather than being angry with them for being scared, you would likely offer to stay with them until they fell asleep again.  God is the same, He sometimes delivers us from trouble, but often He will just stay with us through it.

Use the mind God gave you to take every safety precaution you can, after that you have no choice but to leave the results to God and pray for courage.  Don't just make a quick prayer, prayer during the entire storm if that is what it takes.

As for your anxiety disorder, of course that will make it more difficult to relax during all of this, just know that God understands and is not angry with you about it.  Your medication will begin to work shortly, and then you will have an easier time relaxing,

God allows us to have the reaction of normal, healthy, fear for our protection.  Without it we would take stupid risks all the time, so don't think that fear automatically means you have no faith.  Just know that a person of Faith turns to God during times of fear, rather than giving in to total panic.

  13. God says in Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

and so all you can do is put your faith in god to trust like it says in psalms 55:22 Cast your cares on the LORD

           and he will sustain you;

he will never let the righteous fall.

so does that answer your question God never leaves the side of those who love him read up on david i hope you get what you need
