I've relaxed it but that darkened my hair,i had to keep putting grease in it and it smelled bad after i shampooed. Now i got it straightened professionally but its hard to keep up the the whole straightening iron ritual at home, and as soon as it gets wet... welcome back super poof.

Now i want someone to tell me of a really good product for my kind of hair that will not darken it,does not involve grease (it smelled like peacock) and keeps it straight even when wet. If it a relaxer that's okay as long as its a good one... Please help me..!!!! ps i know that there isn't something permanent out there but something permanent that will keep it straight for a month or two that won't ruin my hair so that it returns to its natural self after a little while.

  1. uhm if you put a relaxer in it , you wont be able to return it to its natural state unless you cut all of your hair off

    I suggest that you :

go to a professional and get your hair done every week or 2, depending on your budget . i get my relaxer done every 16 weeks and my hair has never turned colors

try either Carols daughter or Miss Jessie's  products for your hair

  2. mm...sorry i don't know but my hairs kinda like that. But my answer would be use moose and styling and straighten it.

  3. go to ulta

  4. sorry to tell you but you have to straighten your hair everyday if you want non-poofy straight hair. i do it!

  5. either you have poofy hair, or you stop being lazy and straighten periodically.

  6. I feel your pain!! I have had extremely curly hair my whole life, and Ive spent my whole life just trying to get it straight/tame it.  You must realize that for some reason curlier/poofy hair is so much more sensitive to chemicals like dye and relaxers.  So try to avoid them, and your hair will not be so damaged.

I use a very expensive flat iron (the chi) and I've realized its worth $120 for a reason...Its a great investment and its what they use in the salons.  Also, there is a serum called "Silk Effects" Ive found at Wal-mart that is the best to use.  Its not GREASE, and it doesn't stink!!! (Like a peacock)

And lastly, google a new straightening method called "Thermal Reconditioning" It will change your hair all together and your hair will be straight even when wet. Its very expensive, but once again, worth the money.

    Hope I helped!!

  7. Honestly you are really really ruining your hair. I have curly hair and if you don't fight nature, I learned it looks really really nice. But to answer your question.

No matter what straightener you buy make sure that is is a cermatic one. They are better for your hair. I have really curly hair and so when I straighten it I always use a come below the straightener to help and I've brushed it out first.

Also drop the hair at 0 degrees as this will help to keep it straighter.

Make sure to use a product as well to protect your hair from the heat. I personally find that the serums work best.

Blow dry your hair on cold. It helps to straighten and relax it. Rinse your hair with cold water. It is better for it and it will also help to relax it and take out the frizz.

There is a pink straightener I can't remember the name but it starts with a C. They are often advertising it at the mall. (I know it depends where you are but keep an eye out). It really works wonders. Good luck.

Also when you get out of the shower then comb your hair stright and put it in a scrunchy till it drys. It really relaxes it.

  8. be natural. use a moisturizing shampoo and then some strengthening conditioner mixed with a bit of olive oil.

just keep it natural and lay off the relaxers and straighteners.

don't dwell on the 'bad' attributes of your hair, dwell on the good ones and be proud of what you've got.

you'll start loving your hair and so will everyone else!
