a converter. I think I might be able to do it by using the computer but I don't know what kind of blank DVDs to buy, or how to hook it all up.

I DO however have a Magnavox player that will play VHS tapes or DVDs. Please explain how I might be able to accomplish this. Thank you.

  1. It would depend on what you have in the computer.

Your computer will need a DVD burner, and DVD burning software to start.   What kind you have will determine what kind of DVDs to buy.

If it does not have a TV in, you will also need some form of input device.  I prefer the Dazzle, but there are many.  You would plug the VCRs input and output jacks into this, they include software to make a movie file, which you would then burn to the DVD using the software above.

Please note that copying a VHS tape to DVD will NOT give you a DVD quality movie.  The image quality will be the same or a little worse as on the VHS tape.

  2. Cucusoft Video to DVD Creator is a good choice. It converts popular video formats such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, DivX, DV, VOB to DVD and burn DVD movie played on portable or home DVD player. Any video to to VCD/DVD/SVCD is even faster than real-time.
