I have a lot of trees in my yard, how can I get rid of the sapling that start off my trees?

They are starting to take over my yard, even though I mow them down every other week.

  1. Cut down some of the big trees and pull the saplings out of the ground.

  3. mowing them down you are leaving the roots, just pull them up that way you get the roots too, they are small so it won't be hard.

  4. place a board over them so they can't get any sun light to grow

  5. If you're talking about "suckers" - basically, branches growing straight up from the base of the tree, or from the horizontal roots nearby...you mow them, or cut them with pruners.

    There is a product called "Sucker Stopper", that you can spray on the cut surface after you snip them off.  HOWEVER - it's not good to use that product on a stressed tree.  And by definition - a tree that produced lots of suckers is less than healthy.  

    If you're talking about seeds that sprout, after a few mowings, you should have cut them all, and they'd be done.
