  1. by all means let some color into your world lol

  2. If you are worried about it making your room seem too small if you paint then a dark color, then try putting up some art work.  A simple and cheap way to decorate walls is to stretch fabirc with neat patterns over plain canvases from an art store.

  3. Painting your walls is not going to make the room feel stuffed.  Having too much stuff will make the room feel stuffed.  If this is the problem, pick out the things you like the most, and display them.  Put away or get rid of everything else, so the room doesn't start feeling cramped.  If you can't part with any of your things, you can always rotate what you have out on a regular basis.  That way you can still enjoy all of your things, but not feel like your space is overcrowded.

When you pick the colour for the walls, remember that cool colours (blue, green, purple) will give the illusion that the walls are receeding, making the room feel larger.  Warm colours (red, orange, yellow) will make the room feel smaller and more cozy.  You don't necessarily need to pick a blue or green shade, even though most of your stuff is that colour.  For some ideas on what types of colour schemes work well, you can go to http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-the... for some basic colour theory.

  4. I'm always a proponent of painting because I think white is just so plain & boring.

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

You can still paint your room a color but keep it light. I think a pale purple like "rosebud" (# 6288) would look great with the blue & green.
