Get a good degree in automotive engineering or at one of the specialized schools.  There's jobs available on racing teams, including road racing, circle track such as NASCAR, Indy style etc.  One of my friends sons went to a F1 team in Europe.  I've worked as pit crew and as a mechanic for a team racing midgets on the east and west coast.  Do some research on the net using http://www.google.com you should come up with a lot of information.

In addition check out go kart racing using "google".  Quite a few pro-drivers started out racing karts.  Go kart racing is fast and teaches strategy as well as honing your skills to move up into other racing classes.
