  1. I would take the bird to the vet, if you love the bird. Why exchange a bird you have already started to bond with?

  2. Hi,

By the sounds of it then the bird is ill, i would take it back to the breeder especially if he will replace it.

  3. Take it back to the breeder usually a reputable breeder will give you a refund or another bird if something is wrong within a short time.

  4. Hello.

Usually , when you buy a bird ( unless the stores, but sometimes the stores don't let you refund& exchange  with a sick or injured bird either )  ) from breeders ...You see the bird , you paid for the bird ( ofcourse you should inspect the bird ...it is looking healthy , the feathers look beautiful ) then the moment you get it home, the breeders are no longer responsible for the health or the injured of any kinds ...( out of sights , out of minds ) However, being a breeder , the breeder can tell you or help you out how to deal with it . Sometimes , I see some breeders on line ...offer like this ...to get an exchange a sick bird, you need to get a paper from the vet to see what's wrong with the bird ...if the sickness from birth , then they will exchange another bird , if it is an injured , then you have to deal with it yourself ...For my opinion, I will ask the breeder how to deal with it , then I would take it to the vet . I am a breeder , I had a customer bought a bird from me for almost a month , then it got sick , I offered to take care of it until it was better ( for free ) the bird stayed with me for 3 weeks and it got well , the customer paid the cost of medicine and took the happy healthy bird back home . ( There is a cream to put on the bird's eyes , check on the website www.drsfostersmith.com to see if it works for your bird . )Good luck . TM.

  5. You have a problem!!

As you were not aware that the bird has a swollen eye till after you bought your bird it may have had it when you bought it or it could have happened since you got it.

You could go back to the person from whom you bought it and he may exchange it or refund you,but it is down to his goodwill most breeders will help in this way.

I would contact him and he may be able to tell you what is wrong as a trip to a vet will cost you more than what you paid for your bird.

There is no harm in trying.
