The lump was small when I was small but a gained like 20 pounds and it grew from a pea size to a lima bean size and been that size for 5 years. I thought maybe cause I use to shave with a razor. Could it be something other than a lymph node?

  1. Given the time course, it is probably benign i.e. a cyst or a lymph node, but you should have an ultrasound done to better delineate the nature of the lump ie. cystic or solid which in turn can help along with your risk factors and history if a biopsy is prudent to rule out any malignancy i.e. breast cancer or a lymphoma.

  2. It's a swollen lymph node.  It's nothing serious, but you may want to see your doctor.  I have one behind my ear.  It drives me nuts.  Normally, people get this after an infection.

  3. Yes it could. I had a similar lump for 25 years and in 2005, it turned to cancer. The only way you will know is to be checked, get a sonogram and a mammogram. Please do this! I was lucky and needed only a lumpectomy. I have yearly mammograms and 6 month check ups.

    Be safe.

  4. Seven years is a long time so I doubt it's cancer...you probably wouldn't be around to write this question if it was, but I would get it checked out for peace of mind, and be sure to mention how long it has been there!
