I have a magicjack and my cities areac code is 707, now, i have a 707 area code with magic jack.?

but its still requires me to dial 707 and also some friends even across town can't call me. (they have a long distance block) others are getting charged. thx

  1. It's possible magicjack gave you a number that's not actually in your local calling area.

    This is possible as cell phone companies eat up all the remaining numbers and with the surge of VOIP, providers are buying numbers from other areas. They probably gave you a number that while is in the same area code for your city, is not actually on a prefix that's considered local calling.

    Cell phones where I live used to have that problem, the original "local calling area" was defined as this county, and the majority of the numbers were being issued outside of the county...however most phone companies should have expanded.

    I'd find your phone book and find out if the area code/prefix you were given is actually a local call for you. It doesn't matter where *you* are, but where your number the number is issued.
