  2. There's a few things that can cause browning on palms. Firstly, over-watering can definitely cause browning, you should check the soil at the bottom of your pot. Make sure your pot is big enough for the root ball (at least 1" of soil clearance), and has enough drainage holes on the bottom. If you don't have sufficient drainage, regardless of how often you water, it will stay too wet. Browning can also be caused by under-watering, though the browning will be more crispy, but again, you can tell by feeling deep into the soil. Besides watering, lack of nutrient can also cause browning. Palms take a certain food, and you can always find it as palm food. Most palms are to be fed ever 2-3 months according to the mix specs. To directly answer your question, if you have a 14" or larger outside, if you're watering more then three times weekly (I'm averaging), it's probably too much. I hope this helps, good luck!
