I have a maxtor external. I have a maxtor external hard drive on drive f,I have moved my home

I have a maxtor external hard drive on drive f,I have moved my home movies onto this drivefrom my documents,if I then try to delete these from my documents it also removes them from my f drive to,the idea of having the external drive was to make more space on my c drive.
