I've noticed that all mcdermotts have this problem and I'm just wondering if there is a way to bring it out.

  1. mcdermotts are made using maple.  Mine looks stained, but its just the colors of the wood.  I wouldn't change out my cue for anything.  Are you sure it's a stain?

  2. A stain or just dirty ? If just dirty mild soap and lots of dry towels. Then maybe a little scotch-bright.

  3. Like Mama said if it is stained ,with what? It would just be cosmetic anyway

If just dirty chalk powder and such just clean it .We use liquid laundry soap just be sure to dry the H out of it with clean terrycloth and Scotch-brite  afterwards.

  4. If it is defective, contact McDermott. If it is just dirty, I have found that the best way to get it clean is using a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Its amazing at cleaning it.

Moisten it with water or denatured alchohol and clean the shaft. Then dry the shaft with a terry cloth. After that you can use a super high (1200 or higher) grit sand paper to smoothen it, then burnish with a piece of leather. This will help to seal the pores of the wood again. It will be clean and smooth, pretty much like new.

  5. Mcdermott hey?  I'm sure its warped too.  You can clean it yourself or just take it to your local pool hall or billiard supply store and ask them if they do it.  Its usually not more then $10-$15.  Keep rackn em up!

  6. Contact McDermott and tell them what the problem is. I'm pretty sure they will replace the shaft if it is defective. They have a pretty good policy about warranting their cues.
