i have a mejestic gas fireplace insert model HE25 installed in 1997i can smell exhaust fumes when the fireplace is on i have taken the insert out and pop the top noticed the caulking was broken up and oldi scraped it off put a high temp. rubber caulking on it still smell the fumes but not as bad the metal liner looks to be in good condition
