I have a 13yr old boy and 1yr old boy that I need to keep with my parents. I will need to be away more than a year. What is the easiest way to give guardianship to my parents while I'm getting medical treatment? I'm not sure how long until I return. I don't have any money to pay for a lawyer? Please help? I need to leave soon to get medical treatment.

Thank you

  1. Legally I don't believe you have to go threw all that just leave your parents with and authorization to treat your children medically if something were to happen. When I was once on a vacation that's all I had to do.

  2. You should be able to go to any office supply store like Staples, etc and buy a Temporary Guardianship form.  Be sure to have it notarized and be very specific not to give permanent guardianship- so that when you get well you can have your kids back. Best of luck to you.

  3. First try Legal Aid they should be able to help but if not here  is a web site that has a free form on it...Best of luck and best wishes for you and your family
