I have a mercruiser 228 and the trim motor is not working?

Question

there is a 50amp breaker inline from the battery to the hydrolic pump motor. i can set the breaker and hit the trim button and the motor will pump for a fraction of a second before the breaker trips. have any ideas?

some models also have a 20amp fuse inline. check marine engines.com for prices

the pump motor is bad or the circuit breaker is bad
