I have a mercury sable. 2002 when i come to a stop i feel a slight jerking ever so slight. not when moving

I recently purchases this vehicle. looks good sounds good. but when I stop for light or stop sign or for what ever. and still in drive i can feel ever so slightly this jerk seems from the engine.. what could it be. I don't feel it while in motion.. the engine is new.. what could it be. thanks

if it occurs when braking, it probably has out of round rotors or (drums depending on if it has the optional rear disc brakes). to determine if it is from the front or rear, bring vehicle to about 25mph, hold parking brake release lever and bring vehicle to a stop using the parking brake. if you feel the jerk under these conditions, your problem is in the rear brakes.
