I have a metre high of the retaining wall to be build, and i will used timber (sleeper).?

does anyone can suggest how far the first post to the next post??

and how deep i should dig the hole for the post ??

  1. post that are a metre high should be a meter in the ground . So a 2 meter post and I would suggest 1 metre centres for the posts  that is . Also remember to slopethe posts back 2 or 3 degrees


  2. People too often skimp on materials for a retaining wall.  Dirt and water creates an extreme amount of pressure behind the walls, causing them to fail (blow out). I would suggest setting the post 4 ft. apart (half the length of the timber), setting them in 20-24 inches deep, a half a bag of concrete each.  I have also attached eye bolts every other post and pulled cable from them to mobile home anchors for extra strength.
