I have a mk6 Escort, i can smell clutch burning!!!

I have a mk6 Escort, i can smell clutch burning!!! its mainly after a good run, the clutch isn't slipping though, my friends friend had a similar problem which damaged his gear box, is this a common fault as i don't know what it could be, or what to do to stop it! Any ideas?

please clarify what you mean by a "good run" like is that a "racing good run" but other than that, what i would suggest is drive it normally if you can help it, and if you still smell the stench of a burning clutch, you might not be letting the clutch out fast enough.
