  1. Generally, you unplug the machine, then lift the top of the machine, rotating towards the back of the cabinet -- the machine  will swing back on hinges at the back of the machine's bed.

Then you'll lift up a piece of the wooden cabinet that normally sits flat in front of the bed of the machine, and rotate the machine down into the cabinet.  Drop the front wooden piece back into position, and shut the leaf.

If you're moving the machine from room to room or on a short trip across town, this is sufficient.  If you're sending the machine on a cross country journey with a moving van, I'd strongly suggest taking the machine head out of the cabinet entirely (you'll unscrew those back hinges) and packing it separately.  Sewing machines in cabinets turn out to be kinda fragile for moving long distances that way.

Pack your machine in a separate box, like this:

  2. If the above fails, turn upside down and drop....hard.

  3. With the one I had, you lifted the front part of the machine, tipping it back enouth to fold up the front edge of the cabinet.  Then lower the machine down and inside the cabinet.
