  1. Yes, it will affect your credit.  You agreed to pay and now you plan on not paying.  That's exactly what is shown on your credit report - if you paid as agreed.

Talk to your landlord about the remaining rent.  If you have a deposit, you should be able to use that towards your last month's rent as long as you left the apartment in good condition.

  2. Why would you want to be a dead beat like that ?

The landlord rented the apartment to you in good faith ; now you want to stiff him / her .

YES; it does go onto your credit . Like myself; MOST landlords do report dead beats to the three major credit bureaus and it brings down their credit score like it should .

You can also be taken to court for what you owe and a lein put against your personal property and / or vehicle ... if you do not pay the judgment.

  3. If they have your social security number, then it can hurt your credit because they can turn it into a credit reporting agency.  If not, it will just hurt your credibility and make it more difficult in the future to find places to rent.  I'll probably see you on Judge Mathis if you skip rent.  Breech of contract?  According to contract, you are required to pay it unless you discuss the situation with the super and he/she lets you out of the lease early.  That way you don't lose your deposit.  Good luck

  4. If you move out and don't pay your last months rent, the landlord can sue you for it in court to collect.  Then, not only will you have to pay the last months rent, but court costs, possible Attorneys fees and all other charges allowed by state law.  Then, it will go on your credit report for 7 years, so every time someone runs your credit, it will show up.  It will also raise the rates on your car insurance, charge cards, and be harder to get loans.

  5. .  Everyone wants to do this.  Use the security deposit as the last months rent.  But that leaves the landlord with no deposit if the couch falls off the dolly and puts a hole in the wall.  So the landlord will go to court to force you to pay the final months.  She will win in court.  You will have the worst of all worlds. You will have to pay and your credit will have a judgement against you.
