  1. Well capacitors have basically been replaced by dry cell "cap-killer" batteries so you can look into one of those - it would most likely stop your lights from dimming because most of them are rated at over 100 farads (as compared to the two farads you have now). As far as an alternator goes it mostly depends on the car. The battery acts like a reserve for the power your alternator makes - when the bass notes drop, they draw more current out of the battery, which in turn lessens the reserve for the lights which causes them to dim only when the amp is drawing a lot of current (when a loud bass note plays). The only way to fix this is increase the reserve amount so that it the amplifier will draw off its own reserve and not the reserve that the lights are using. A capacitor tries to be a reserve but in reality it can't hold enough, so the lights still dim - it only makes the problem slightly better. If you get say a reserve small dry cell battery (like a Kinetic or Stinger) called a "cap killer", it will almost always hold enough reserve, unless you have HUGE amps.

    good luck

  2. Instaling a capacitor helps some time but the main problem is the alternator when you install extra stuff  I.E. subs amps or anyting thats gunna drain some serious power most stock alternators run about 70amperes you might wanna look a 100amperes
